A powerful leadership model for NextGen managers

CHOICE® is a leadership model published by The Training Foundation in 2008, derived from analysis of international research into the fundamental drivers of engagement. Six key drivers were identified as being universal to the human condition, innate ‘human values', and this realisation inspired CHOICE.  This mental model has proved to be a potent tool for hundreds of NextGen managers at all levels.

The foundation principle is one of Caring about people, showing each individual team member that they are valued and appreciated. For example, the workforce today is experiencing greater levels of personal stress than previous generations. The financial climate has not only brought enormous workplace pressures, but for many has adversely affected their personal lives.  As a result, many are today experiencing acute anxiety or depression which can affect their performance at work. Line managers have a vital role to play in spotting early warning signs and supporting team members. This is just one of the many learning modules covered in the NextGen programme and, as you can see here, will have relevance whether your organisation is a private sector employer or is in the public sector, particularly an NHS Trust.
